About me

My name is Sarah and I’ve been teaching English full-time since 2011. When I started teaching, I quickly realised that this was for the job for me. As an English teacher, I love the fact that I can help people to achieve their goals, whether that’s to get the qualification they need for a new job, to move abroad, or simply to feel more confident communicating in English on holiday.

During my teaching career, I’ve taught general English, exam preparation courses, business English and academic English. I’ve also worked as a speaking examiner, which gave me another perspective on preparing students for exams. Over the years, I’ve taught in Poland, Portugal and the UK. My students have ranged from 6 to 80 years old, although my strengths lie in teaching adults. After a few years as a teacher, I decided to study for the DELTA, which is the Cambridge diploma in teaching English to speakers of other languages. Through this course I learned a lot about second language learning and different teaching methodologies, which I think has made me a better teacher.

In my free time, my huge passion is travelling. Some of my favourite places I’ve travelled to are Mongolia, Guatemala, Colombia and Sri Lanka. I’m looking forward to hopefully being able to travel much more in the future.

Why I teach online:

When Covid first pushed me to teach online, I wasn’t sure how it would compare to teaching face to face, but now I love it. Online classes help my students to be more focused on the task at hand and allow them to improve their English from their own homes and workplaces.

Strengths in teaching:

As for my strengths as a teacher, my students tell me that I make them feel comfortable and that I’m extremely patient. I’m friendly, but also completely professional.
