Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE) – online preparation course

The homestudies CPE course prepares you for the highest level of Cambridge English – the C2 Proficiency exam. With your personal Proficiency coach, you learn everything you need to pass the exam with confidence. Your lessons take place online via Zoom or Google Meet – with a certified native-speaking English teacher who focuses entirely on your individual needs in private one-to-one sessions.

Course content

Every lesson is tailored to your level and targeted at the C2 Proficiency exam requirements. Your teacher prepares you efficiently and individually in all key areas: Reading & Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking.

After the course you will be able to

communicate, read and write flawlessly and effortlessly, produce texts on demanding topics at near-native level, understand different English dialects, and engage with English literature and specialist texts with ease.

CPE exam structure

The Cambridge C2 Proficiency exam consists of four papers testing all language skills at the highest level.

Reading & Use of English – 90 minutes:

This paper has 7 parts with 53 questions and tests your ability to understand complex texts from fiction, non-fiction, newspapers, magazines and academic sources. It also assesses your command of grammar and vocabulary at an advanced level.

Writing – 90 minutes:

In Part 1, you write an essay based on two source texts (240–280 words). In Part 2, you choose from tasks such as an article, letter, report or review (280–320 words).

Listening – approx. 40 minutes:

This paper has 4 parts with 30 questions. You listen to a range of recordings – including lectures, interviews, discussions and monologues – featuring various native-speaker accents. Each recording is played twice.

Speaking – 16 minutes:

The speaking test is taken in pairs and has 3 parts: a conversation with the examiner, a collaborative task with the other candidate, and an individual long turn where you speak for two minutes on a given topic.

The Cambridge C2 Proficiency exam can only be taken at official Cambridge examination centres.
