Mother Tongue: English
Second Languages: German (C1), French (B2/C1) Strengths in teaching:

I focus on my students’ interests and needs. For general classes, most students want to practice speaking and that’s what I allow them to do. We talk about what is interesting for them and I listen and give them feedback. I’m relaxed and friendly in class and can

talk about just about anything. If I don’t always fully understand the technical complexities of my students’ work, I can at least follow it well enough to ask useful questions. Above all, students want someone they can be comfortable with, and with one or two rare exceptions, they have been with me. The rest, knowing about exams, when and how to give feedback, what homework to give and how to mark it, is merely a question of experience!

About me

I am a proud Canadian at heart and have been living in Europe for 30 years. I spent 20 years in Germany and currently reside on the beautiful island of Mallorca Spain. My wife, myself I and our many pets have been living here for 10 years.  I enjoy exercising, attending football games, meeting with friends, watching a good Netflix series and teaching. I enjoy laughter and travel. I have been teaching for 23 years at various learning institutions including Language schools, Business Colleges and Universities, specializing in Business English and exam preparations for EILTS, Cambridge and Trinity College.

I never thought I would enjoy teaching on-line as much as I do. I have learned to embrace the advantages to the point, where I am very comfortable with it now. As an on-line instructor, I have had many work opportunities that I would otherwise not have had, and I have met people from all over the globe.  This has been most exciting!

My mother tongue is English. I grew up in bilingual household (French and English). At age 20, I was first introduced to German when I moved there to play competitive hockey and currently am working on my Spanish.
